Sleep training. People talk about it like it’s so easy. But how do you do it in a way that fits your style, protects your relationship with baby and actually works? Don’t worry, I’ll tell you. In this quick and easy guide, I’ll distill all the basics from the best resources out there on baby sleep. I skip the parent shaming and a ton of fluff that the other books are filled with, and I’ll give you the best cliff’s notes version out there so that in an hour or so you can be a sleep-expert, too. I'll explain why sleep is so important, and tell you the biggest secret out there about smooth sleep training (hint: it has nothing to do with how much crying you can tolerate). Parenting isn’t one size fits all, so I give you three solid options that can fit anyone’s paradigm and I'll walk you through a 14-day plan to revolutionize sleep for everyone. What are you waiting for? Let's get your sleep on!

I can’t recommend this book enough! Doubts I had about sleep training:- she’s already 4 months old, i’ve started too many bad habits that will be too hard to break- she hates being swaddled and won’t take a pacifier, so she won’t be able to soothe herself to sleep if I don’t nurse her- it’s too overwhelming, I can’t do itIf you have had any of these thoughts this is the book for you! We just started last night and my baby has already put herself to sleep and took a 2 hour nap (she hasn’t napped longer than 45 minutes at a time in WEEKS), and just put herself to sleep for her second nap of the day with minimal fussing. The knowledge is delivered concisely, allowing me to read it yesterday and implement it immediately. She gives options for cry it out, modified CIO, and no cry, so it has a little for everyone!I feel confident that I have learned the tools to look for my daughter’s optimal sleepiness and to teach her this important skill of self soothing.I honestly can’t recommend this book enough, I am so grateful for it! Sincerely, a mama who was going bonkers from lack of sleep. What attachment? This promotes CIO and tries to reduce mothers guilting order to be “successful” I’m admittedly disappointed after reading this book. Aside from being mindfully present during the day to foster attachment, (perfect for working mothers who aren’t able to do this, btw) the recommendations in this book are primarily CIO, which research shows does impact attachment negatively. While the mothers cortisol level regulates as the baby quietly suffers, the baby is left in a heightened state of distress, all the while learning that his cries won’t be answered, so why waste the energy? So, for a baby without a mature prefrontal cortex, it’s supposed to regulate its own emotions throughout the nighttime, alone, yet during the day be coregulated by the mother? In a nutshell, this book promotes the cry it out method and wrongfully tells mothers not to feel guilty, and to take the time their baby cries to distract themselves with self care. I was hopeful for something better, especially by the title and written by a therapist. I wish I could get my money back.My baby was sleep trained in less than 24 hours! Short Review: It’s an abbreviated version of all the parenting books out there, relieves you of mom guilt, has a fun, conversational tone, and gives you simple, easy to follow steps that support great sleep.Long Review: I kid you not, this had my one year old sleep trained in ONE DAY! No. That is not a typo. ONE DAY! Because of our living conditions we never had a good place to put our baby down for naps and she just never took them. I knew after she turned one we just had to bite the bullet and stick her in the bedroom with our other two toddlers. After reading this book, which took two hours by the way, I felt armed with an arsenal of knowledge. Christine lays out three options to suit your needs. We picked out option and ran with it. After one hard day my baby now goes down for naps without putting up a fight. She sleeps for perfect amounts of time. Most importantly, our family is thriving and everyone under our roof is getting decent sleep. Enough about me. Let me break down this book.Honestly, it is a short version of all the books about sleep training but it cuts through all the crap and relieves you of guilt. That, my friends, is worth its weight in gold. The author briefly runs through the importance of sleep for both you and the baby. Then she gets right into your options. Again, she outlines three options [all that you’ve seen in other books] and helps guide you to one that makes the most sense for you. She helps you feel confident in the route you decide to take. Something I hate about other parenting books is that they lay on a thick layer of guilt for not doing things a certain way. They always left me feeling confused, conflicted, and just guilty. Christine validated everything I had ever felt about sleep training my children and removed any guilt. I also love that she highlights the importance of your marriage and intimacy. Man! Does she break it down! The tone of the book is so fun and conversational. She makes you feel like your friend in arms. She even offers her direct help if you have any questions which, I think, is unique.Lastly, I left reading the book with a clear cut action plan. She lays it out so nicely and easy to follow. I guess if I could change anything about the book it would be that there were maybe more colorful charts to follow but that is just personal preference.Buy this book! It is 12 dollars well spent. Prepare to make sacrifices, though. I’m a socialite and it was hard for me to stick to a strict nap schedule but the rewards are well worth it. This book has changed the whole dynamic of our family for better! Thank you a million times!
